Union Centre

Exterior View from Davis and Main, Newmarket, ON

We designed this enlargement and rehabilitation of two historic buildings in the town of Newmarket, Ontario.
Once at the crossroads of a small village in the 19th century and known as the Union Hotel, these two historic buildings now sit within a mid-size city at the gateway to its historic downtown.  We connected the buildings together with a modern addition in the rear which provides proper exiting and an elevator which connects all four stories, while preserving the general historic appearance from the frontage.

By combining and enlarging the buildings, we created a large enough commercial building to accommodate our client's needs which include office space, presentation space and a café.
